THONG TREE (Picture) For years people have talked about our "funny looking" tree. Actually it is not a fluke of nature but a signpost left by native americans to point the way towards water or settlements. When trees were just saplings they were bent over and tied down with a leather thong. Over time the trees grew sideways and remained as natural landmarks that lasted generations.
