FISHING GUIDE
For the "weekend warriors" who mainly fish once or twice a year with the kids a hook, bobber and worm is your best bet. You can catch just about anything anytime of the year any place you happen to throw your line.

Avid fishermen know that there are times when it is best to fish for certain species. Bass fishing is always a favorite on any lake and some of the best times at Clearwater is during the spring and fall when the bass are running shallow. Night fishing for bass is also good at mid summer when it is very hot and the bass are running to deep waters for cooler temps. White bass are also popular to fish during mid-summer in the early evening hours as they follow the main channels to feed on shad.

Channel catfish are caught with consistency year round with trout lines on the lake and tightlining below the dam at the Spillway Park where the lake empties into the Black River.

Clearwater is known for Crappie. Fishing for them is best in early spring and late winter when they are caught consistently at the start of and during their spawn. There is some truth to the old saying, "Crappie bite when the dogwoods bloom."
